Cambrils is located in the heart of the Costa Dorada, in the Baix Camp region, Tarragona province, it is located 100 km south of Barcelona between the towns of Salou and Miami Playa.

 

Surrounded by mountains and with more than 10 km of fine sandy beaches, this Catalan coastal town is one of the best tourist destinations in Catalonia.

 

Located in the southwest of Camp de Tarragona, in the lowest part of the flat and touching the sea, it has an area of ​​34.76 km². The surface is mostly flat, with a slight slope of 2% on average, from North to South. The maximum height does not exceed 70 meters above sea level.

 

The climate of the Costa Daurada is typical Mediterranean. Temperatures range between 14º and 18º on average in winter and in summer, between 25 and 32º.

 

The rain regime is concentrated in the autumn and especially in the spring, although short-term, high-intensity summer showers are frequent.

The urban centers of Cambrils


Cambrils has undergone a radical change since the 1960s. It is a city in full expansion, which has a length of approximately 9 km., And an average width of one kilometer.

 

It comprises three main areas:

The urban center of Cambrils. Its two original urban centers (the Villa and the Marina) are practically merged into a single urban center, although some differential sociological and architectural features are still preserved.

 

The nucleus of the Villa has expanded with new neighborhoods (La Parellada, Pinaret, Raval de Gracia, Eixample de la Villa, La Paliza or market neighborhood, Nuevo Cambrils); while that of the Marina has done it with those of the Eixample del Puerto or the Rueda neighborhood, the Prat d'en Forés, Cambrils Badia, Cavet, etc.


Vilafortuny and the Levante area. In the eastern area of Cambrils, the Vilafortuny Playa urbanization was the embryo of the various urbanizations that currently exist in the area: Vilafortuny 2, Proacosa, Baronia, Los Cortados, Jardines de Vilafortuny, Mas d'en Bosch, Castells de Vilafortuny, Los Almendros, Pinar de Vilafortuny, etc. However, the road that linked Cambrils with Salou has become an urban road to build on both sides.


The western area. The neighborhoods and urbanizations that make up this area are La Huerta de Santa María, Albareda, Llosa, El Dorado Playa, Marcambrils, La Dorada, Tarraco and Cambrils Mediterráneo.


Of the 4,761 inhabitants that Cambrils had in 1960, currently the population is around 35,775 inhabitants, although the actual number of residents is higher. During the most intense periods of the tourist season, Cambrils can exceed 200,000 inhabitants.

Playa de l'Ardiaca, the furthest from the urban center but popular with vacationers from the nearby urbanization. It is characterized by small coves separated by breakwaters.

 

El Dorado Beach, more than a kilometer of fine-and golden-sand beach located south of the port of Cambrils. It is very quiet, away from the bustle of the center.
